Melbourne Frenzy,
Queen's Birthday June 2001

A GREAT AFTERNOON was had by all and those not there missed out on all the fun. Great to meet up with some we had not met before and good to see Mike from Adelaide in the GTS. Thanks goes to Jon for organizing it too. - Rudolf van der Sluis

mf03.jpg (25569 bytes)G'day all! Well a few of us got together on the Queen's Birthday Monday to meet with Mike from Adelaide (GTS) and show him how wet Melbourne can be. Five cars in all. It would have been seven if it wasn't for a non charging battery on my S4 (it wouldn't go) and an invisible Monty, still a quality field non the less.

mf01.jpg (20525 bytes)Damn the GTS is a sexy car! Mike's is fabulous and great to see it getting sideways through some corners. Speaking of sideways with very little encouragement from Jon "PINKY" Riddett, a spirited drive up a short hill (on a closed road) with a real nice left hander was undertook. Opposite lock, tyre smoke and plenty of RPMs being used, all being caught on video by Jon. Bloody good fun!!

mf05.jpg (20324 bytes)A certain Slate Grey S4 owner has now been marked by my girl as 'A BAD INFLUENCE!' although she did say it was great to see the cars being used. I need more of that kind of influence on a regular basis me-thinks! It must be those RMB's eh Rudy?

mf02.jpg (20385 bytes)A great day, great people and a thrill to run with a pack of 928s, looks like I'll be cleaning the '81 all week though. Thanks Jon for setting it up. Mike a pleasure to meet you! I WANT ONE! Rudy (anytime anywhere) great to meet you and your family, a dry drive next time eh?

Cheers all, and remember .. DRIVE EM DON'T HIDE EM!!

mf06.jpg (25773 bytes)Even though it was the first time my car got wet in the rain we had a ball. Tyres got a beating but those sharks take a bit of throwing around to get them to go sideways but we managed and even Craig's handbrake works well on bitumen. Those V8's can sure light up the tyres! Yes we had smiles all round and even the women didn't complain!

Jon's pics are good but the video should be even better. Took me two hours to get the beast back to spick and span and is back on the carpet till next time.

Roll on next FRENZY!! We need more people to come!

Five cars was a good showing despite the weather and it wasn't me that egged Craig on it was the Camera!! Those RMB's sound good when given a thrashing BWWWWAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!
